Sustainability is NOT a Noun

When you look up sustainability in the dictionary, you will see something like this:

SUSTAINABILITY - noun

the ability to be sustained, supported, upheld, or confirmed.

Here at Saoirse, we believe sustainability ultimately is NOT a noun! It is what we DO to connect to our deep need to be an active and aware citizen of this Earth. Living sustainably provides me with a deep sense of fulfillment! It keeps me in a state of gratitude for my ride around the sun!

The term “sustainability” has become quite the buzz word and is used across countless disciplines. My use of the term means building in a way that makes us all more sustainable. Whether it be homes, infrastructure, agricultural systems that are based in permaculture principles, or community-building, making all aspects of life more sustainable is the goal at Saoirse LC!

Being self sustaining has the added benefit of being a resource for others. And living in community, even if that community is spread out over the state or country or even the world, means collaboration on projects for support and innovation, resource sharing for efficiency and economy and connection to feed the human spirit!

As we build our community we are going off site to Smithville, Texas where Nate Wade and Saoirse LC staff will be hosting a new series of Dome Building Skills Workshops in a 2-day weekend intensive. Join us to gain the skill set that you need practice on or for each one as your schedule allows!
